Educate, Encourage and  Empower

In the midst of working as a passionate humanitarian for the protection of women and children affected by foreign armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Marcel Cirhuza Muhirhi was forced to leave the DRC in 2009 at the threat of execution. As soon as he arrived in Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi, he realized that there were serious problems in the camp, especially in regards to access to education, poverty, and access to employment or capital to start businesses.

With his previous experience in humanitarian work and his desire to help others, Marcel started Fountain of Hopeā€”just 3 months after his arrival to Dzaleka. With his deep understanding of refugee problems and his own experience as a refugee, he has been working ever since to create solutions that will enable refugees to lift themselves out of poverty.
