One of the main objectives of Fountain of Hope is to support
the education of women and children survivors of war. Thousands of children in Dzaleka
refugee camp cannot attend school because of a lack of funds or a lack of space
in the limited schools nearby. Fountain of Hope runs a preschool and primary
school in Dzaleka, which currently hosts 500 children from both the refugee and
host communities. In the near future,
they will be constructing larger facilities to educate even more children.
Fountain of Hope also provides scholarships to enable teen
mothers who are survivors of sexual abuse or have been orphaned to attend
secondary school. Not only does this empower the teen mother, but it gives hope
for a brighter future for her child. Thus far, 40 teen mothers have received
secondary school scholarships, 11 of which have already graduated.
